Tom Savage is a young musician from England rapidly making his reputation in Spain. He sings with a deep, sonorous, soulful voice. His voice, coupled with his distinctive picking style on guitar, are perfect to convey great American Acoustic Blues, Country Blues and R&B songs from the early 20th century. Picking songs from the likes of Big Bill Broonzy, Jesse Fuller and Mississippi John Hurt, as well as Elvis, Johnny Cash and Eric Clapton, he adapts and continues the tradition of the Blues, Rockabilly and Country in an authentic and exciting manner.
For this gig, he has assembled an All-Star Barcelona backup band:
Biel Ballester, a native of the island of Mallorca, Spain, is internationally known for his very personal guitar style based on the Django Reinhardt “manouche” heritage, but incorporating Mediterranean musical traditions. Two of Ballester’s compositions, were featured in Woody Allen’s film “Vicky Christina Barcelona,” and his awe-inspiring style has enabled him to perform in some of the most prestigious International Jazz Festivals world-wide. His love of Roots American Rockabilly from his youth makes him an exciting fit with Tom and Doc, and there are bound to be sparks flying!
On bass is Doc Scanlon, a strong vocalist, who has established his Swing & Jump Blues reputation worldwide touring Spain, France, Germany, Portugal, the USA and China. He is originally from Upstate New York but now happily makes his home in Barcelona leading his Cool Cat Combo.
